STORY OF SANKARASURA KILLED BY DEVI SANKRANTI

An evil demon SANKARASUR used to torture and kill humans on Earth without any reason deriving pleasure in doing so.
All sages, gods prayed to the Devi to help them get rid of the Demon Sankarasur.
Then Devi appeared in the form of DEVI SANKRANTI.
Devi Sankranti fought a fierce battle and killed the evil demon Sankarasur.

Devi Sankranti appears with long lips, a long nose, a mouth, and nine arms. Every year her vehicle, weapons, clothes, condition, ornaments, food, etc. are different and they are considered as indicators of future events.

She sits on a vehicle, comes from one direction, goes to the other, and at the same time looks in the third direction. Prosperity comes in the direction from which it comes, but wherever it goes and sees, the crisis collapses.

It is also believed that the items she buys are destroyed or become expensive. Her picture is given in the almanac. That is why they do not do good deeds on the day of Sankranti

ANOTHER STORY :
Surya Deva goes to his son Shani's house on this day forgetting all the ill relations to begin anew.  From here Uttarayana starts, that is why Makar Sankranti has a lot of importance.
People go out on roof tops and open fields and pray to SUN GOD
This helps them in not only attracting the Sun Rays and boosting VITAMIN D
but also since Surya Dev is in good mood (being in his son Shani's house), he is pleased easily and blesses with Broad Mind.

Although black is considered inauspicious during festivals in the Hindu religion. This day, people could be seen wearing black dresses.

Since the sun enters the north direction, it is believed that this black color absorbs the heat inside it, thereby increasing the body heat. People can also protect themselves from the cold and celebrate the festival properly.

Donate sesame and jaggery

  • On the day of Makar Sankranti, one should take a bath in the river or lake in the morning. After this one should worship the Sun by offering Arghya to Lord Bhaskar. During this, Gayatri Mantra and Aditya Hriday Strutte should be recited. After worshiping, donating s sesame, jaggery, and clothes will reduce the bad effect of inauspicious planets

Happy Makara Sankranti to you all,

Regards,

Makar Sankranti which was celebrated exactly on January 14th (rarely on 15th) for the last 100 years or so will be henceforth (from 2022 onwards)  celebrated on January 15th or January 16th.
It will never occur on 14th January ever again.
This change is due to the slight change in the way Earth's rotation axis is aligned to the Sun.
